Question : About a month ago, I fell and my hand took a pretty hard hit. My index finger immediately was in a lot of pain. I figured it would heal on its own. A month later, my index finger knuckle closest to my hand is swollen, I can close it all the way to a fist and feel tiny pain and pressure. But try to bend it just a TINY ways back, the pain almost brings me to tears. I can't hold anything with weight but if I leave it alone it doesn't hurt. What can be causing this a fracture or a tendon cause?

Brief Answer:
Probably tendon

Detailed Answer:
Hi and welcome to HealthcareMagic,

This looks like extensor tendon injury and I don't think this is a complete transection, but it may be partial tear of tendon so surgery is not required. . It would be good to have this finger immobilized for 2 weeks and if pain persist even after this ,then you should do MRI scan for better evaluation. Wish you good health.

Regards
