Suggest Treatment For Severe Pain Below The Ribs And Enlarged Spleen
Question: Hi Sir,
Few days back , I have a severe pain below my ribs in the left hand side , and then I have consulted a docter. he suspects that its due to muscles stretching and suggested a medicine. after few days , I have a food poisoning , during which just due to precautionary measure I have gone for a Ultra sound test. In that test , it shous that I have a mild Splenomegaly and mild hepatomegaly . My spleen is enlarge.
what should I do? Please consult.

The pain below the ribs on left hand side is probably due to enlarged spleen.
There are many causes of combined liver and spleen enlargement.
I general physical examination and detailed history is required to know the cause of combined liver and spleen enlargement.
Some of the causes include infections - bacterial, viral, parasitic; hematological disorders like certain anemias, malignancies etc; certain autoimmune disorders; storage diseases etc.
At this stage I suggest you to get complete blood counts with peripheral blood smear examination and ESR.
In addition, liver function tests, hepatitis B surface antibody and hepatitis C viral antibody may also be done.
It would be more informative if you could post the complete detailed preceeding history.
