Question : I went into urgent care because I was having severe butt pain, in multiple locations on the left. I had a small fever earlier that day so they made me go to the Er. they did blood/urine tests but no infection. they decided it was siatic issues. gave me steroids and vicadin. Four days later pain was still there. had to switch to ibuprofen because I was constipated. then I noticed that the bottom of my butt was hard and turning red. It's been little over a week and still the same. could this be something else? I did have a fissure a year ago, no issues since then. it's not painful to poop just uncomfortable because of the buttock. I don't have insurance waiting for it to go through.

                                    Brief Answer:
It could be an Ischiorectal abscess. Get examined again.
Detailed Answer:
Hi.
It does not seem to be a fissure presently.
Is the fever still coming?
It could be an ischiorectal abscess. Did they do a per rectal examination in the ER?
Infection might not have been picked up if blood investigations were done too early in process of the infection.
You should get yourself examined again and preferably a blood CBC repeated again. If there is any evidence of an abscess it should be drained. It is quite difficult to say much without examining you.
Do let me know if there are any other queries I can help resolve on this issue.
Take care.

so if it is an abscess, can you stop it before a sore develops? I attached a photo. they did not do a rectal exam at the er.

                                    Brief Answer:
Looks like infection. Get it checked by a Surgeon.
Detailed Answer:
Hi. I saw the photo.
It looks badly inflamed. I suspect some infection or allergic reaction to something.
Please get it checked again and get the blood test done again to see how much is your TLC. If itbis raised and if you are having fever you will require antibiotics for 7 to 8 days and might also require surgical drainage of any pus collection inside.
So please get it re evaluated by a Surgeon. He would be able to tell you once he has examined you. You should then follow instructions given by him.
I dont think you should sit over it and wait.
Do feel free to ask anything that you feel doubtful about.
Take care.
