Question : My husband is having Severe pain in the back of his leg opposite of his Knee cap u can feel a lump - this has gotten worse with in the last week. Could this be life threating?

No, this is not life threatening. Lump and pain in this location is most likely caused by Bakers cyst. This kind of cyst appears due to some minor knee injury. It is connected with knee joint and filled with joint fluid.
He should consult orthopedist. Ultrasound should be done to confirm it and surgery to remove it. But its not life threatening for sure.
