Posted on Fri, 25 Sep 2015
Question: Hi! Once again i am experiencing horrible, cramping right sided lower abdominal pain. Also, breast tenderness. My last menstrual cycle was august 23rd. Could this be related to ovulation again? This pain has been re-occurring every month. Just when I think it goes away for good it comes back. Also my doctor said strsss and ibs can be a factor here as well. Ive had normal ultra sound amd examinations over past few months. Thanks

Brief Answer:
mostly it is due to normal ovulation pain.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,

welcome to HCM,

I can understand your concerns,

As you told that you are experiencing pain every month in mid cycle.

In my opinion,it is normal ovulation pain.many women face it with varying intensity.

As you told that ultrasound report is normal so other causes of abdomen pain in mid cycles can be easily ruled out like pelvic inflammatory disease, ovarian cyst and gastrointestinal problems.

I assume that you do not have any other symptoms like heavy bleeding, difficulty in conceiving, bowel problems, so Endometriosis is also ruled out which also appears as cyclical pain.

So in my opinion it is due to normal ovulation pain.

I advise that you should take pain killer like ibuprofen and birth control pills (prevent ovulation).consult your gynecologist.(prescription drug)

Hope it helps.

feel free to ask further.

thanks.

Brief Answer:
pain depends on which ovary is releasing eggs.

Detailed Answer:
You are most welcome.

Sorry for the late response.

The mid-cycle pain usually lasts for around 3-4 days.

The side of pain depends on which side of ovary is releasing eggs. Your right ovary must be ovulating and thus causing pain in right side.

The pain is severe. So there must be increased sensitivity and thus pain on touch.
(Keeping in mind that your investigations are normal).

So, Kindly consult your doctor and discuss the treatment mentioned above.

I wish you speedy recovery.

Feel free to ask further.

Take care.
