Question : hi can you help me? iv had pain in my mouth for around 1 year, iv had a ct scan which my doctor said they couldnt see anything, they sent me for an mri scan a few weeks ago and im currently waiting for results. The ent doctor looked in my mouth and saw nothing that could cause the pain that im getting. iv recently been looking in my mouth and have found some kind of mass behind one of my tonsil archs, to see the mass you have to pull the arch back as its hidden if you dont. there isnt a mass on the other side. my ent didnt say anything about the mass and im not sure they spotted it when they were examining me, iv only just noticed it after 1 year. the pain is definitely coming from the mass and im also getting pain across the whole soft palate on and off. im not sure how to upload a photo but the mass is in the corner of the tonsil fossa, inbetween the 2 arches. its around 5mm and feels hard and defo no moveable.
Brief Answer:
Possible Tonsillolith? Outcome depends on test results.
Detailed Answer:
Hello ,Sir.
I can certainly understand your concern.
This mass which you are mentioning could likely to be an enlarged tonsil or a stone within the tonsil called Tonsillolith.
It's important to get an MRI, for which you are currently awaiting for the results.
Please upload the test results.
If possible try to get me an image of the mass.
Further management if any(medical vs surgical) will depend only on MRI results.
Post your further queries if any.
Thank you
