Brief Answer:
Arthritis likely.

Detailed Answer:
I read your question carefully and I understand your concern.

Judging from your description that pain is most probably in the setting of arthritis. It commonly manifests with symptoms involving the joints, which are often relieved by light activity as the joint warms up and are more pronounced at night.

Considering your age autoimmune causes would be unlikely and age related arthritis, due to the wear and tear of the joints over the years would be most likely. It is a chronic issue which can't be reversed but it can be alleviated by non steroid anti-inflammatory (NSAID) medication like Ibuprofen or Naproxen. Aspirin can help as well but less safer than those. Also there are topical ointments of NSAID which are safer in terms of potential side effects and may achieve similar efficacy with no oral medication or with lower doses.
At times injections of corticosteroids in the joint may be considered as well. However that must be carefully considered, preceded by imaging tests of the joint.

Supplements like those containing glucosamine and chondroitin sulfate may help as well. They are sold over the counter, in the vitamins section.
