Suggest Treatment For Severe Pain In The Back, Neck And In The Arm

default
Posted on Fri, 30 Dec 2016
Question: My wife has been having pain in her upper back, neck and arm. More severe in the arm. Her fingers tingle. We can not remember any trauma to this area.
Her sternum is tender to the touch. This has been going on for approx two weeks and recently she can feel the muscle over it tighten and relax.
Very seldom does it not hurt. Keeps her awake at night. She has a high tolerance for pain, so this must be painful. She has had no heart pain or arythmia lately. She has been to the chiropractor four times with little improvement.
She has had arrymitha for years and is on cardizon cd medication. Recently had an ekg with no problems. Any information will be appreciated. Thanks XXXXXXX

Brief Answer:
She is nerve compression in neck

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
I haves studied your case. Pain around neck and shoulder which is radiating up to fingers and associated with tingling and numbness is due to cervical spondylitis. In this disease there is nerve compression in neck. I have following suggestions for you.
1.Avoid using very high pillow.
2.Do not sit in same position like watching TV or laptop for long hours.
3.Avoid jumpy activities or travelling.
4.Get x ray of the neck, it will tell us if there is any bony changes.
5. Tablet lyrica or Pregabalin M needs to be taken at night time.
6.Physiotherapy in form of intermittent cervical traction exercises is useful.
I hope these steps will be helpful for you.Let me know if there is any other followup questions.
Thanks

Thank you sir.
Would this also be a cause for her sternum pain and pulsations?

Brief Answer:
She may have anxiety also

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Her chest pain and pulsations are mostly due to anxiety. I would suggest you give her one Xanax at night time. It will ease her pain. Cervical spondylitis can also cause sternum pain. In case this pain continues she need to be shown to a psychiatrist.
Thanks
