Detailed Answer:
Hello!

Welcome and thank you for asking on HCM!

Regarding your concern, I would explain that your symptoms could be related to different possible causes:

- a muscular disorder
- low calcium or vitamin D levels
- an infection or inflammation
- medication induced. Are you taking statins?

For this reason, I would recommend consulting with your doctor for a careful physical exam and some tests:

- a complete blood count, PCR, ESR for inflammation
- CPK (muscular enzymes)
- calcium, potassium and magnesium plasma levels
- vitamin D plasma levels
- uric acid plasma levels.

A Doppler ultrasound of the leg vessels is also necessary to exclude possible peripheral arteriopathy or chronic venous insufficiency, which may trigger this clinical situation.

Meanwhile, I recommend having some rest and taking plenty of fluids. It is necessary have a balanced diet and avoid physical activity for some days.

Painkillers (acetaminophen, ibuprofen) may be helpful.

If you are taking any statins for cholesterol, I would recommend stopping them.

Hope you will find this answer helpful!

Kind regards,

Dr. Iliri
