Question : My left hand began to hurt 24 hours ago. The pain is increasing. the thumb and fingers are not involved, the pain is is located on the right side and it hurts tobend my hand down. I do have problems with gout rom time to time

It is possible to have a gout flare in the wrist that radiates pain down into the hand. If you have medication that you usually take for gout then you can take that and see if it helps. The only gout medication that would not be good to start is allopurinol. If you are already taking it that is okay but you do not want to start it during a flare since it can make it worse.
If it is gout the joint should be hot and swollen. If it is just painful without swelling, heat or redness in a joint then it is probably not gout.
Since this is getting worse you might want to see your doctor or go to an urgent care and be seen today. Hands can be tricky and you need to get the correct diagnosis in order to get the correct treatment.
