Suggest Treatment For Severe Pain In The Head

Question: My wife who is 65 has sudden onset severe head pain at the top of her head. We are at an altitude of 8,000 feet. She has a previous history of migraine moderated by beta blockers but no other medical conditions.

I have read your question and understand your concerns.

It is a well-known condition described as attitude sickness, that is causing your wife's symptoms.

This happens because of the lower concentration of oxygen in high attitudes.

Since symptoms are mild, rest, limited physical activity, plenty of fluids, avoiding any alcohol(if at all consume), waiting several hours before going higher and using analgesics like Tab. Ibuprofen should improve your wife's symptoms.

If symptoms get worse, going down to lower attitudes, supplemented oxygen, may be necessary.
