Suggest Treatment For Severe Pain In The Legs

default
Posted on Wed, 5 Apr 2017
Question: Hi. I had been experiencing some sciatic pain for 8 years and recently diagnosed with thrombophlebitis of saphenous veinn in the same leg. Vascular surgeon said my pain was from additional problem. Now me entire leg aches like deep within the bone...different from the last 8 years. Now also my other leg aches but not as bad...sometime my arms ache.
I am concerned about the possible occult malignancies the dr mentioned. I ws screened for various cancer markers but not leukemia or bone cancer. The pain has changed to a deep bone pain in the whole leg from hip to the foot and now the other leg.

Brief Answer:
Bone scan will help

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

Thank you for posting the question.
I have gone through your medical history and the attached reports in detail.

The present symptoms that you are suffering from surely do not seem to be only due to thrombophlebitis or sciatica.(The pain from these conditions is usually felt superficial and not deep in the bones).

The doctor has mentioned about a possibility of and underlying malignancy which i do agree with.

You should see a oncologist and get the necessary investigations done to rule out all the possibilities of a malignancy.A bone marrow examination and a whole body bone scan will help rule out blood and bone malignancies respectively.

If the pain is centred over a certain area, then you can get a MRI of that part in addition to the above examination.

Till the investigations are done, you can take anti inflammatory analgesics like ibuprofen, tramadol, paracetamol to reduce the pain.

I hope the answer was useful.

Feel free to ask me any follow up queries that you may have.

Thank you.
Kind regards.
