Question : I have severe pain on the lower left side of my ribcage towards the front but not on the front (like Costro). And I have severe chills. Also because of the pain in my ribs - I'm having trouble breathing deeply.just wondering how long this will take.

Thank you for posting the question.

From the medical history,it seems that you may have pleuritis.This can cause ribcage pain radiating to the front and difficulty in deep breathing.

Considering the chills that you are experiencing,a possibilty of a lower respiratory tract infection (either viral or bacterial) should be taken into account.

A chest Xray and a complete haemogram should give a clear idea about the disease.

If a infection is diagnosed then,taking antibiotics and wearing a supportive rib belt will provide immediate relief.

I suggest you to see a chest physician immediately and get the necessary investigations done.

If you neglect the symptoms then there is a high possibility that the symptoms may worsen and will take more time to get cured.
