Question : I woke up with an acute pain in my tailbone several days ago like I fell in the ice but have not fallen or bruised it externally? It is difficult to sit bend very painful. I am at a loss as to what may have happened. I am fit and work ou regularly but have have not worked out since I woke up with this.

This can be caused by deep perianal or ischiorectal abscesses or neuropathy. You should see surgeon and neurologist, do xrays and ultrasond to rule out abscesses which should be drained if required. Till that, try to sit on soft materials, take ibuprofen and rest.
