Suggest Treatment For Severe Pain In The Thigh And The Groin Area

default
Posted on Sat, 28 May 2016
Question: What could be causing a mild pain in the crevice of my thigh at the top of my groin and in the lower groin/thigh area? Sometimes it feels like it is at the top of the groin area above penis. The pain is mild and seems to come and go. Once in awhile I have pain in the buttocks area and usually most of this pain is when sitting or doing some type of activity or work. Walking or standing does not usually cause pain. What could be causing this pain?

Brief Answer:
Muscle spasm likely.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for posting your query.
The pain in the crevice of the thigh that you have is likely to be due to a muscle spasm. I would suggest you the following which will definitely help

1 Hot water Fomentation: Either by towel soaked in hot water or by hot water bag. Intermittent application of heat for 15 to 20 minutes each session 4 to 5 times a day will be helpful
2. Muscle Relaxant: Oral taken muscle relaxant like Chlorzoxazone along with analgesic like Diclofenac Sodium will be helpful
3. Local application of Diclofenac Sodium gel will be helpful.
4. Adequate rest and avoiding sudden movement.
5. Gradual & gentle stretching exercises to relieve the associated spasm.

I hope this answers your query.

But the pain is more mild than a spasm...it's an on and off mild pain, but then it seems to radiate to my buttocks the middle area ...I've self tested my testicles and don't feel anything out of the ordinary there...but the pain seems to come and go between the thigh and groin area now for the last few months with no other issues arising. If it were something more serious wouldn't there be other symptoms showing?

Brief Answer:
Can be Vitamin D3 deficiency.

Detailed Answer:
Hello.
Thanks for writing again.
If the pain is persistent for last few months then it could be due to a Vitamin D3 deficiency or a wrong posture. Any infection or a serious cause is less likely. Do get your blood levels evaluated and start with proper supplements in case of a deficiency.
Hope my answer is helpful.

What are other signs I should look for if it were something more serious? I have thought of if there was anything I overlooked that may think it is something serious but there are no other signs I can remember. The pain may linger a week on and off and then disappear for a few days and then come back. Since it has been this way a few months now I thought any serious issues would have had more signs or symptoms by now correct? What is an over-the-counter D3 I could look for in a regular pharmacy store?

Brief Answer:
Start supplements after getting the levels checked.

Detailed Answer:
The other signs include acute sharp pain , fever, lump in the area, local lymph node swelling, etc. This is likely to be a minor issue.
It is better to get your D3 levels checked. An over the counter supplement will contain a lower dose. In case of deficiency you will need at least 60,000 IU of Vitamin D3 supplements once a week. You can get it prescribed from your physician.
Regards.
