Suggest Treatment For Severe Pressure Sensation In The Eyes

Question: hello, yesterday while driving, as soon as it got dark, I noticed that I was really bothered by the oncoming headlights, almost like they were double, which has never happened before. I pulled over to look at the lights while not looking through the windshield and the problem was still there, although a bit less. I reached my destination, and decided to go to sleep, thinking maybe it was just from being tired. Yet this morning, the problem is still there. I performed some basic eye tests, and it definitely seems to be affecting the left eye only. I have also noticed that on the left eyelid, there is in the last week or so forming a weird skin growth,( like a small cyst?) but it is only on the eyelid. When I lift up and look at the eye, it seems unaffected, but the thing on the eyelid is definitely getting bigger. Could this be putting enough pressure on the eye to cause this double refraction in the left eye only?

Brief Answer:
sty in lid glaring effect of light refractive error.should be treated.

Detailed Answer:

Hi,
Thanks for the query,

Three things comes to my mind. One is glaring effect of light, second one is sty in eye lid, third may be refractive error. So it requires examination by an ophthalmologist. If it is sty then it is in eye lash route. It requires epilation of eye lash so that pus will come out with it. Then it can be cleaned with sterile gauge and apply neosporin eye ointment on lid margin. Refraction can be done and if error is detected then it should be corrected. Anti glare specs should be given so that glaring effect on eye will decrease. Then IOT be measured and fundus examination may be done to detect any problem in vitreous or retina. Exclude diabetes and hypertension.

Hello and thank you for your answer. I went ahead and saw an optometrist, and apparently I now need a prescription for glasses. As far as the growth on the eyelid, it is some kind of cyst, and he referred me to an ophtamologist since at this point it could be putting enough pressure on the eyeball to cause some glaring effect. I wanted to ask you another question though since it came to my mind after the optometrist visit: Is it normal to all of a sudden need glasses to see close up and far away? I have never had glasses so I guess I imagined the decline of the eyesight in a slightly different manner... The optometrist performed a full eye exam, and the prescription isn't strong, but I am curious how come both the close up and far away are corrected with plus diopters? Is there anything on line that you could recommend that I could read to understand this process? Thank you

Brief Answer:
consult ophthalmologist for refraction.optometrist don't perform these test

Detailed Answer:
i have diagnosed sty for which you are informing as cyst. Epilation is treatment the for it and ophthalmologist will do the treatment. It is not the job of optometrist. Anti-glare coating of spectacles can be advised by ophthalmologist. Near and far defect can't be corrected by plus dioptre. Get it verified by ophthalmologist by having a proper refraction.
