Question : Hello, i have a rash of sorts around my pubic region and under my stomach. I have seen photos that seem to resemble it and i think its molluscum contagiousm but i am fearing the worst. It does not hurt or irritate and this is the first time i have seen this

I am dr. kakkar (dermatologist). I have gone through your query and i have reviewed the image.

Yes, it is molluscum contagiosum. Dome shaped papules with a central umblication. Molluscum contagiosum is asymptomatic. It is a viral infection. Genital molluscum is usually transmitted by sexual contact.

Treatment of molluscum is simple. Electrocautery ablation or chemical cautery with TCA (trichloroacetic acid).

Is there any remedy available as a topical at a local drug store? Or topical via prescription?

Hi.

I wont suggest any otc remedy for molluscum. Topical imiquimod is effective for molluscum. However, it is prescription drug.
