Brief Answer:
Less likely to be helpful, lidocaine is better option

Detailed Answer:
Hi
Welcome.
I have gone through your query.
If you have fresh lesson, it might produce slight burning sensation. I feel it is less likely to be helpful in shingles.

I would have preferred numbing agents, such as lidocaine, in a gel, cream, skin patch or spray which are often ordered to provide relief when the pain is severe.

This provisional advice provided by me is based entirely on the input provided to me. I would suggest examination by the doctor.

I hope this suggestion might be of some help to you.
Take care.
