Question : my husband just had an mri for severe shoulder pain. dx torn rotator cuff and several tears on other liagaments. does this mean surgery? he has been set up with pt. but the pain is very sever and are we just putting off the inevitable?
Brief Answer:
Did he have an injury to the shoulder?
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Yes, surgery is the best treatment for torn ligament and more so if this occurred after a trauma to the shoulder. For now, immobilize the shoulder, provide pain medications such as a combination of tylenol (1000mg/8hrs) and Ibuprofen (400mg/8hours), and icepacks on this area. As the doctors review, for quick recovery and rapid return to functionality of the shoulder, surgery would be a highly considered option.
I wish you well. Keep me posted on how this turns out. I wish him a speedy recovery through this.
