Suggest Treatment For Severe Sore Throat, Body Aches And Fever

Question : I have bee sick for almost 2 weeks. It started suddenly with a severe sore throat, body aches and fever. It lasted for 4 days with my fever reaching 102.8. I started feeling a little better and 2 days latter started coughing violently and running a fever again. I finally went to urgent care, I was still running a fever and she said my lung capacity was diminished. They did a chest Xray and said they saw slight shadowing on my left lung, but didn't seem concerned . She gave me a prednisone shot and a 10 day treatment of Doxycycline. She thinks I had the flu and then it turned into a bacterial infection. I am concerned about the shadow, I am still coughing violently and having trouble getting the mucus up. I am taking mucinex. I don't have insurance right now am concerned I have pneumonia. I would appreciate your feedback.

II can understand your concern

According to the history i think that might be pneumonia amd the current treatment you are taking is correct.

Sometimes it happens that dduring a viral situation a bacterial infection might superimposed
Don't worry.

I reccommend you to continue the treatment. Usually we use it for10 days amd afterntwo weeks we repeat a.chest x Ray, a.CRP amd a blood count. If they come negative than nothing to do further.If not than a chest CT is reccommended.

But i don't think this is your case.

The cough sometimes last.for a.month but it is in improvement during the time.
