Brief Answer:
Avoid spicy and oily foods. Take antacids.

Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Welcome to health care magic,

Stomach burning is a commonest symptom seen nowadays.

Can you tell me since how many days you are facing this problem and is there any specific diet after which you have burning inside stomach.

The causes could be excess stomach acid or acute gastritis, gastroenteritis, gastric ulcer or Helicobacter pylori infection or food allergy or stress or drug induced.

You must undergo routine blood investigations and H.pylori, liver function tests, urinalysis and stool for blood, abdominal ultrasound and upper gastrointestinal endoscopy to detect the underlying cause.

Treatment is mainly depend on the cause but you may take symptommatic treatment meanwhile.

Antacids like h2 blockers (ranitidine) or proton pump inhibitors (pantoprazole or rabeprazole) will help to reduce excess acid production in stomach.

You can also take digene gel or liquid or ulcero-protective agents like sucralfate or bismuth subsallicylate to reduce the burning sensation.

Apart from medications you should,

1) eat plain foods like boiled rice and green leafy vegetables without adding spices or oil. It will help to neutriluze digestive acids and also they are easily digestible means there will be no need of extra stomach acid.

2) avoid oily, spicy and fast foods

3) avoid eating full stomach at a time rather have small meals frequently.

4) drink coconut water will help to reduce burning.

5) eat lots of fruits like banana and watermelon.

6) avoid excess tea and coffee.

7) eat or drink buttermilk and yogurt twice daily.

8) chew ginger which releases stomach gases.

9) do morning exercises like walking or jogging which will reduce your stress level.

Consult gastroenterologist for detailed medical history and clinical examination to diagnose the cause.

Thanks and Regards,

Hi,

Thanks a lot for your detailed answer.

I am facing this problem since once month. Once after I felt that I had a heavy burning sensation I visited the nearby doctor and he suggested to use Tricaine Syrup daily 3 times.

As far as I remember, there is no change in my food habits and suddenly I find the problem related to stomach.

I have few questions:

1. Since my childhood we eat a lot of spicy food, and till 25years I did not find any problem and now suddenly the problem is occurring when I start eating the spicy dishes. What can be the problem for the acid creation, even if there is no change in food habit ?

2. What is the difference between gastric and acidity ? (co-relation between the two)

3. Do you suggest me to take some specific medicines & practices before going for medical examinations/tests?

4. If the problem persists, do you have any recommended doctor in XXXXXXX ?

Brief Answer:
As per below explanations.

Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Thanks for the follow up query.

Tricaine-mps gel or syrup is a very good drug for treatment of hyper-acidity or burning or gastritis. You must have felt some relief after taking it but it just provides symptomatic relief without curing the underlying problem.

Frankly saying, it would be difficult to explain that when you had taken a lot of spicy foods from your childhood up to 25 years and you had not any problem of acid burning in stomach at that time and why it came so suddenly for the past 1 month, without detailed history taking and thoroughly clinical examination.

The underlying cause could be infective like H.pylori or inflammatory like gastritis or gastroenteritis or stress (which is an important factor nowadays) what I have already mentioned in my previous answer.

Gastric means pertaining to stomach and acidity means hyper secretion of concentrated hydrochloric acid (HCL) inside stomach to digest the food which might cause burning sensation occasionally.

Antacids tablets or gel or liquids, digene syrup or cytoprotective or ulcero-protective agents, i have already mentioned with some dietary precautions in my previous answer.

It would be advisable that you stop all current medications for stomach burning before 2 to 3 days of going for medical investigations like ultrasound or endoscopy to have a accurate diagnosis.

I do not know about doctors in XXXXXXX but i can suggest you some multi-speciality hospital where you may find gastroenterologist.

Apollo hospital, fortis hospital, Acura Multi-speciality Hospitals, Life care hospital.

Thanks and Regards,
