Question : I have had 30 percent of my colon took out fiveyears ago due to a prolapse rectum, then two years ago I had a 100 percent blockage in my small intestine and had surgery. it was due to the colon surgery I had five years ago due to scar tissue and adheseions. Recently was put in the hospital due to extreme stomache pain and severe swelling all the way across my upper abdomen, was also told I have colitis . The pain and swelling has not gone away. Brief Answer:
To get erect X ray of abdomen

Detailed Answer:
Hi
Welcome to Healthcaremagic
Greetings of the day
Dear Ms

Colitis usually presents with pain in abdomen and loose stools sometimes associated with blood in stools. Associated swelling in upper abdomen suggest possibility of mechanical obstruction to Intestine usually due to adhesion from previous surgery .
If there is absence of vomiting and you are passing stools regularly, then the obstruction is likely to be partial.

I would suggest you the following

1. Soft diet

2. Probiotic will be helpful in taking care of underlying Colitis

3. As there is still persistent swelling, then Erect X ray of abdomen will be required in consultation with your Physician to rule out intestinal Obstruction Or dilatation of colon secondary due to Colitis.

4. Intake of Liquid Paraffin in consultation with your Physician will be helpful in relieving the associated partial blockage

Do keep me updated about progress.

Wishing you and your family a very happy and healthy life.

Take care
