Brief Answer:
This seems like a viral infection: drink plenty and rest; some medications

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thank you for asking at HCM.

I carefully read your question and understand your concern.

Having stomach ache and headache for a few days might be due to probably a viral infection and it generally might last 3-5 days and sometimes up to 7 days.
Meanwhile you will need help to feel better.

I would recommend you to:

1. take cap Omeprazole 20 mg, twice a day before food to help with stomach ache if the ache is in the upper abdominal area.

2. if the pain is around the belly button then a pain killer like Buscopan is more likely to help with the pain (you may need to have prescription form your local physician for this).

3. local warm compresses might be helpful for the abdominal pain. Make sure you keep yourself warm also and especially your legs as being cold makes the abdominal pain worse.

4. Ibuprofen might help with the headache but have it only after food as it might make the stomach ache worse.

5. mild neck muscle massage might help with the headache
6. make sure you take ample rest.

7. even though you do not feel like eating still having small amounts of food is advisable. BRAT diet which is banana, apple, rice, toast- actually every fresh fruit, in small amount and frequently taken is good. Avoid fast food or fried food, fatty food or spicy ones for a few days.

8. for the sinus drainage it is good to use some anti-allergic like Cetirizine 10mg every night for a few days and nasal saline solutions might help drain the sinuses

9. If you are not improving in another 2-3 days or any worsening of the symptoms, then you will need to see a doctor

I hope this answers to your question and is helpful to you, feel free to get back in case any further doubts.

Kind regards,

Dr Antoneta
