Suggest Treatment For Severe Swelling In The Knee

default
Posted on Wed, 4 Oct 2017
Question: Knee has been swelling a little for about a month. A little pain before I get up in the morning. I worked pretty hard for a couple of days and that made the swelling worse but only at night. Not much pain after I have been up for a little while. Ice didn't seem to help. No injury that I can remember.

Brief Answer:
Could be due to knee osteoarthritis.

Detailed Answer:
Hi I am Dr Gopal Goel Orthopedic Surgeon.
I have read the details and in my opinion your knee swelling is due to osteoarthritis of the knee joint , which may have flared up.
I suggest pain killers , local heat ( not Ice), and local analgesic cream. A Knee cap for few days will be good idea. Try for 10 days and if you feel there is no relief then get X rays of the knee joint.
Thanx for the question. Please feel free to ask any other question.
