Suggest Treatment For Severe Swelling In The Left Foot

default
Posted on Mon, 4 Sep 2017
Question: Hello Doctor,
I have had my left foot swollen (from ankle down to foot bed, no toes) on and off for about 2 years now, especially after a day of working. I sit and also move around at work. When I raise my foot up after work, the swelling usually gradually goes away after a night sleep. No pain is involved. When I press on it, it feels soft and depressable.
When I mentioned this to my family doctor 1.5 yrs ago, she just commented it might be poor circulation, without suggesting any test like ultrasound. I'm very healthy. Result from blood test came out fine, only sugar was at borderline of low.
I usually wear flat or tennis shoes at work. My shoes are not tight.
No problem with right foot.

What should I do? What problem this could be?

Thank you
doctor

Please note..

1. Yes, this is a normal physiology we see in few people.. Do not worry

2. Usually people who have had their veins removed, defective Lymphatic system, diabetics, or the one who has had recurrent cellulitis develop this.

3. But, I'm sure, you might have had none of the above mentioned things.

4. It is normal and will not pose any major problems.

Neglect it..

Thanks Dr. Metri,

I hope so too, no serious problem.

You're right about people who have had veins removed might develop this... I have had some injections in the past to help reduce appearance of my veins on both legs. That might be the cause.
