Question : i awoke this morning with swelling on my left lower cheek; yesterday, my wife came down with the same swelling but hers includes her lips too. It seems most unusual; i tried to think what has happened differently but the only thing i can think of is we both ate duck the other night! any suggested remedies?
I don't want to look like such an odd-ball for work but I probably don't have a choice. Thanks. David Saxe

Hello. Thank you for writing to us

I am dr.kakkar(dermatologist). I have gone through your query and I have noted your concern.

You both seem to have Angioedema which is probably because both of you are allergic to duck meat.

I suggest you to avoid eating duck meat in future as it can be a much severe reaction next time.

Both of you may take a tablet of antihistamine/ antiallergic i.e either tab cetrizine 10 mg Or tab loratadine 10mg, twice daily for 5 days.
