Suggest Treatment For Severe Upper Abdominal Pain And Fever

default
Posted on Tue, 6 Dec 2016
Question: While straining to go to the bathroom, I had a sudden burst of pain and a lump in the upper abdomen near the belly button. I pushed on it while holding my stomach because it hurt and it went away. I haven't had any pain or fever or vomiting or anything. Just wondering if it was probably a hernia. I don't have insurance so I don't want to run to the doctor if it's okay.

Brief Answer:
Supportive care

Detailed Answer:
Thank you for asking

I read your question and i understand your concern. Straining in the toilet followed by some pain sensation around belly button which self resolved is likely a muscle and visceral pain , common in straining and thats why doctors forbid it as constant straining can lead eventually to hernia. umbilical Hernia is painless unless its incarcerated or obstructed in which case it is purely visible in the belly button or around it , so dont worry its not a hernia. Likely a muscle spasm of abdominal muscles due to straining or visceral pain like gastric discomfort. Just maintain good bowel and dietary habits and avoid straining. if trouble passing stools, use stool softeners and hope for the best.

I hope it helps. take good care of yourself and dont forget to close the discussion please.

Khan
