Posted on Thu, 8 Dec 2016
Question: ok! So I am experincing vaginal itching, I had sex 6 days back, but we used condom, that time urination was painful just after sex, but it became normal. I felt itchiness before sex also, as I frequently get yeast infection. I hope I havent contracted some sort of STI from that person,Am I safe here ?

Brief Answer:
No possibility of STD provided condom remained intact after sex.

Detailed Answer:
Hi XXXX,
Thanks for the query.I have read it & understood your concern.
- In fact you had a protected sex( with condom )which avoids pregnancy as well as STD ( sexually transmitted disease )except the case when the condom was torn & you had direct contact.
Please don't worry.. if the condom was intact after sex...you would be totally protected.(but if it was not you should consult your gynecologist & get tested for STD)
-The temporary burning can follow local stress with vigorous sex/ the itching you already had.
- The present itching following sex can be due to recurrent yeast infection you already have was instigated after the sex/ allergy to the latex making the condom.
* Allergic itching would go with use of Steroid ointment for a couple of days.
* But if it does not... it's definitely preexisting yeast & it needs to be treated methodically .A full prescribed course of oral medications along with local ointments / vaginal pessaries would be advised after your physical/ internal check up . Treatment of sex partner becomes necessary for complete irradiation. Similarly avoiding sex till cure is necessary.
- I would suggest consultation oh a Gynecologist for both sex partners.
I hope that answers your query. Any follow up query you have, please feel free to ask.
Thanks.
