Brief Answer:
Dehydration and infectious cause needs to be addressed

Detailed Answer:
Hello and welcome

I appreciate your concern

If your child is not able to take medication or food orally or is vomiting repeatedly after taking food/ fluids or medication then urgent hospitalization is required. It is necessary to avoid dehydration and serious electrolyte imbalance.

The degree of dehydration needs to be assessed and any infectious cause should also be addressed. At home you can give isotonic fluids like ORS and anti-emetic meds.

If there is fever, blood in stool or profuse vomiting and/or diarrhea then intravenous replacement of fluids should be the priority which is ideally done in a hospital setting.

Wishing you best of health

Thanks

Brief Answer:
Explained

Detailed Answer:
Hello again

Electrolyte imbalance as a result of body fluids lost in the vomiting / diarrhea can lead to muscle spasms, weakness, or even convulsions.

These can be caused by potassium, magnesium, sodium, or calcium imbalance.
