Brief Answer:
ORS is the mainstay of treatment

Detailed Answer:
Thanks for asking on HealthcareMagic.

I have gone through your query and understand your concerns. It seems that your child either has gastritis or a food poisoning. You need to continue to give ondansetron. Please let me know the body weight of the child and I will let you know if the dose is correct. However, the mainstay of treatment is ORS (oral rehydration solution). You need to replenish the amount of water and salts lost due to the vomiting. This is very important. Unless fluid replacement is adequate, dehydration may result.

As of now no other medicine is required. Antibiotics would not help in reducing the time duration. You may give probiotics or curd/yogurt. Irrespective of the treatment it may last between 2-4 days. You need to be patient.

Let me know if I could help further.

Regards

Brief Answer:
Continue on same course. Give ORS along.

Detailed Answer:
Thanks for writing back. For a child of 12 kg, the dose of ondansetron (2mg/5ml) syrup should be 5 ml. Alternatively you may also give half a tablet of Ondem MD 4 mg (mouth dissolving preparation).

Regards
