Suggest Treatment For Severe Vomiting In A Child

Question: four year old child vomit about two hours ago. child try to vomit almost every hour but no vomit. child has no fiber. What should we do?

I have not got an answer yet. my child is four years old.

I have gone carefully through your query and understand your concerns. You need to give your child some antiemetic like ondansetron as and when needed, especially before feeds (15 min-30 min prior to feeds). The mainstay of treatment is to make him take small sips of water or ORS (oral rehydration solution) continuously in order to regularize his intestinal movements. If the child starts vomiting, it would be necessary to replenish the lost salts and fluids so that the child would become dehydrated. The urine output needs to be monitored. If the frequency comes down it indicates dehydration and calls for additional supplementation of fluids. But if the child becomes lethargic you would need to take her to a hospital without delay.

You need to be patient. The nausea may persist for a couple of days before it resolves. But if the condition does not feel right it would be a good idea to get him evaluated by a doctor.
