Suggest Treatment For Severe Wheezing While On Amlodipine

Question : After taking amlodopine 10mg for twoweeks, mymother developed a cough and extremely dry skin, her skin peels like that after a sunburn. Another week went by and her cough worsened. On the start of the fourth week she developed severe wheezing and has been coughing up white mucus plugs and clear phelm. She is very fatiqued and short of breath on small exhertion. On sunday, april 2nd she refused the amlodopine. She had read the rare side effects and has determined that medicine was the cause. She also takes 240 mg cardizem, aspirin, garlic oil, vitamin e, salmon oil, bromelain, and coq10. I havebeen monitoring her blood pressure and so far she has been in acceptable ranges.mostly 130/72 She has a pacemaker and her heart rate is consistant 70. My question is: how long does amlodopine stay in her system and is she correct that it is causing her mucus/ phelm build up and fatique?

I carefully passed through your question and would explain that amlodipine can cause dermatitis as an adverse effects.

I think it would be a rational decision to stop amlodipine in this clinical situation.

You should know that it may remain present in her blood up to 7- 10 days after the last dose. So, its effects disappear after this period of time.
