Question : My 9 year old daughter just came home from a play date where the girls were loudly screaming during a game of hide and seek. She's complaining that her ear hurts. A sharp pain inside her ear. I gave her some Motrin. Should I take her to see a dr? Could she have burst her ear drum?
Brief Answer:
Could be an otitis media or eustachian catarrh
Detailed Answer:
Hi...good that you gave her motrin for pain relief.
There are 2 possibilities -
1. Acute otitis media or middle ear infection.
2. Eustachian catarrh.
She needs anotoscopy... Its a simple office procedure which takes less than a minute.
I suggest you take her to her pediatrician.
