Question : I am having sharp pain in lower abdomen that all gives me pain in the center of my chest. It is not constant, but has been happening off and on for 24 hours. When it started, I was constipated and was able to have a bowel movement but the pain was so severe that I did throw up a little. Once I had the bowel movement, the pain has been off and on now. I have had a couple of loose stools that are black in color. The pain in my center sternum really scares me the most. I am having no other chest pains.

Detailed Answer:
Hi
Pain abdomen associated with black coloured stool is commonly due to minor bleeding in the upper gut like Stomach /Duodenum.Blood that is red in the upper part undergoes many reactions and becomes black while passing the stool.
You should consult your doctor and get an Upper GI endoscopy.
I prescribe Tablet Rabeprazole 20mg twice daily along with Syrup containing Sucralfate along with Oxetacaine 10ml thrice daily to my patients with similar complaints.
