Hi! Welcome to health care magic. Thanks for sharing your concerns with us. We will try to help you in best way possible.

Based on the history you have shared, it seems as if you are suffering from gouty arthritis. The waxing and weaning type or migratory arthritis is more commonly due to infiltration of joint with these crystals leading to inflammation.

With your age group, osteoarthritis can be common but that has to be progressive and doesn't improve or settle itself. The possibility of autoimmune or rheumatic arthritis presenting first time at this age are also less likely.

To start with X-ray of the joint and blood workup like uric acid levels along with ESR and RA factor may be needed. Complete blood count and anti-ccp may also be needed. Meanwhile using OTC analgesics like Acetaminophen like Tylenol or Ibuprofen will help which you are using already. Joint aspiration or intra articular injections are considered after knowing the cause.

Physiotherapy and uric acid lowering therapies should be started in raised uric acid levels but two weeks from, once acute attacks settle in. Avoid high protein diets and pulses or green leafy vegetables.

Wishing you a speedy recovery.

Hope this has answered your query, if you have any more questions, feel free to ask.
Regards.

Yes, I did have a gout on the right toe flare-up on XXXXXXX 6. After finished with the prescript ed Indomethacin before the end of XXXXXXX this pain appears on my knees just a week ago. so this is related to my gout.

Is this common?

I will consult my family doctor

Brief Answer:
It is most probably the same gouty flare

Detailed Answer:
Hi! Thanks for the detailed feedback.

Yes based on more details that you have shared, it supports the possibility of gouty recurrence even more. Once you took indomethacin, you were supposed to use uric acid lowering drugs like allopurinol and others to keep its levels low and avoid it's accumulation in the joints again.

Now again to start with you would need to use indomethacin or ibuprofen with antacid's cover for few weeks until pain and inflammation settles down, and then after two weeks the uric acid lowering drug should be started.

Wishing you a speedy recovery.
Regards.
