Question : I drink excessively, well I did until two days ago when I stopped. 4 days ago I suddenly had very sharp pain in my abdomen. I have felt vey nauseous since then. I gag like I want to throw up but don't. I burp all the time for no reason that I can figure out. Also I sweat when no one else does Especially on the face & neck. On Friday night I had palpitations bad enough to frighten me. I now have a difficult time eating.

Brief Answer:
Acute pancreatitis can be the reason.

Detailed Answer:
Hello!

Thank you for the query.

You may have some kind of mild pancreatitis due to alcohol intake. Generally alcohol can do a lot of harm to the digestive tract resulting with liver cirrhosis, acute and chronic pancreatitis, stomach inflammation, peptic ulcer and many more.
If you feel the symptoms are not due to hangover, than you should consult your doctor and have some tests done. Abdominal ultrasound, blood work (including liver and pancreatic tests) and gastroscopy seem necessary to determine the reason of the pain and other symptoms.

Hope this helps.
Regards.
