Posted on Tue, 15 Sep 2015
Question: I have a sharp pain on my right inner thigh that feels like a knife is being ripped upward when I try to stand or walk. It goes away after I walk for a short distance but when I stop and sit down it does it again when I get back up. Some times it is too much to bare and makes me almost cry and I am not a wimp.

Brief Answer:
needs further investigation, analgesics to relieve pain

Detailed Answer:
Hi!

Welcome to health care magic!

I am Dr. Saddiq Ul Abidin. I have read your problem in detail and will try to help you in best way possible.

Based on the history you have shared, it could have been muscular or nerve pain but the tearing sharp nature of pain raises doubts of any skeletal deformities or bony growths. Xrays of right femur and lumbar spine should be first choice investigations in any of these cases to exclude crude causes.

I would suggest you to visit an orthopedician or neurosurgeon at first and get your self examined.

Meanwhile using analgesics like acetaminophen for pain along with muscle relaxants like orphenidrine or tozanidine may help. Using topical anti inflammatory emulgels like ibuprofen or diclofenac sodium and massaging with these will give relief too.

Hope this has answered your query, if you have any more questions, feel free to ask. kindly rate me before closing, and leave your feedback if possible.

Regards,
Dr. Saddiq Ul abidin.

I have seen doctors and went through lots of test and still no answers to the pain. Pain medication does not do anything or has any effect other than making me dizzy or feeling drunk. I also found a discussion about sharp inner thigh pain and found that their are a lot of people with the exact same condition and also without answers. It appears that you along with the other doctors have no good answers to this condition. Thanks anyway: XXXXXXX Bishop

Brief Answer:
pain not responding to analgesics

Detailed Answer:
Hi! You didn't mention any such thing in the history so how was I supposed to know. More potent pain killers are advised only if first line drugs fail. You can share me details of all the medicines you have used so far, for the pain. If using simple analgesics didn't help, and your Xrays have ruled out bone disease, then you can discuss using catbamezapine or gaba pentins for such pains with no apparent muscular or bony origin. Good day.
Note: For further queries, consult a joint and bone specialist, an Orthopaedic surgeon. Book a Call now.
