Question : I have had sharp pain in left shoulder joint. I woke up with it about three days ago, and it doesn't feel any better today. I have a farm and am very limited in range of motion in left arm. The pain is sharp, like a ice pic sticking in it if I move a certain way.

Brief Answer:
Possible impingement syndrome.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,

Thank you for using HCM to post your question.

I read it carefully and I understand your concern.

You may be developing an impingement syndrome, which happens when you do repetitive movement of the shoulder. Since you have a farm, it may have been one of those movements that might have triggered the inflammation in the shoulder tissues.

3 days are not enough to heal it. It will need around 3-4 weeks, and you will need rest.
-- Avoid jobs that move the arm in full range for 2 weeks.
-- Use PARACETAMOL 650 mg every 8 hourly, for next 7-10 days after food. It will reduce the pain.
-- If not better in 2 weeks, consider seeing a physical therapist who will recommend exercises to avoid frozen shoulder.
-- If not better after the physical therapy you may need steroid injection in the joint, but most probably it shouldn't progress that far.

I hope this is helpful and I answered your question. Let me know if you need more clarifications.

Regards,
Dr. Papaqako
