default
Posted on Sat, 9 May 2015
Question: Recently I started off with sharp pain in the heel bone, it started as slight pain and became worse, went to a General Physician , who prescribed tarmadol and acetaminophen tablet which didn't reduce the pain , then went to orthopaedic Doctor, X - Ray was fine, slight swelling was there , Doctor asked for Blood test..CBC, ERS, RBS, CREATININE, URIC ACID... Doctor saw the report and said everything is fine and Uric acid is slightly on higher side 6.9..and asked to check after 20 days again, he prescribed microcid 25 mg and repepsa ...The pain disappeared , now again it is starting again, what could be the reason, since all seems normal...what else I can do to make sure the pain doesn't reoccur..

Brief Answer:
you may be having planter fasciitis

Detailed Answer:
Hello,I have studied your case. Most probably you are having planter fasciitis. In this there is inflammation of the planter fascia. I do not think uric acid is related to this. Buy before I advise any further I would like to know little detail about the illness.
1. Since when you are having this pain?
2. Are you having pain in both heels?
3. When you have maximum pain ?
Please send me answers of these questions. I will try my best to help you.

Thanks Doctor for the recommendations, should we avoid certain type of food which can trigger or aggravate the symptoms? Or take certain food which can be useful to reduce the symptoms?

Also will physiotherapy help with this condition?and I also heard of ultrasonic pain theraphy machines , is it worth a try?

Interim should I continue microcid 25mg or are there better medicines and gels which can help to minimise the symptoms?

Also is steroid injection safe ? It can provide permanent relief or try other alternative before trying steroid injections?

Brief Answer:
Steroids injections are safe in heel

Detailed Answer:
Hello Mr XXXXXXX
Thanks for reply. Here are answers of your questions.
1.No reltion of food with this heel pain. Though obesity can increase this so avoid fat and sugar.
2.Physiotherapy can be tried, Heat, ultrasound or IR. If anything gives pain relief than it can be tried.
3.Microcid is not good. It is very strong medicines. I would recommend Brufen or Piroxicam. Gels are not effective in this. Sillicone insoles can be used in shoes.
4. Steroids injection in heel are safe and effective if used by trained person. I have given more than 1000 in my practice but never had any issue. It should be given in operation theatre with sterile precautions.
thanks
