Question: my wife aged 64 years diabetic was suffering from shingles and after treatmentwith antibiotics the shingles have gone which were on the right side of the back and also a few in the front. sh d developed severe pain from the placewhere it started atthe right side back and spread tothe parts where ithas healed and also severe itching espedcally at nifghts. thedoctor now prescribed prelin 150 together with zenretard 300 and triptomer 50 she is having heavy swlling in thebothlegs and drousy. shehas taken the pills for threengihts. what to do.

Thank you for your query. I can understand your concerns.

Prelin 150 mg -Pregabalin can cause peripheral edema(swelling in the both legs).

Zenretard 300 mg- Carbamazepine can cause drowsiness.

Tryptomer 50mg -Amitriptyline also can cause drowsiness.

Your wife need to ease on tryptomer (to reduce the dose slowly-say 20 mg at bed-time).

Pregabalin may have to be discontinued.

Consult your doctor.
