Suggest Treatment For Shingles On The Back When Diagnosed With A Diverticulitis

default
Posted on Wed, 31 May 2017
Question: I have been experiencing a dull but constant pain in my right side for a few days, with no fever or digestive issues. I had a diverticulitis infection last year but that pain was deeper and sharper.

I am currently having a shingles outbreak on my back and wonder if this is just referred nerve pain but the fact that it is so constant worries me. It keeps me awake. I also have numbness near the area.

Or could this just be a muscle or ligament issue ? I am very overweight and sit down a lot. I can't go to the emergency room or visit a doctor right now. Any such action will endanger my job and I know insurance will challenge the emergency room visit.

Thank you.

Take an anti inflammatory however after office should visit your primary.

Detailed Answer:
Hi ,
Thank you for choosing HealthcareMagic for your query.
Have gone through your details and i appreciate your concern.
As per your query answer's are
While it has not been thoroughly studied exactly how excess weight can cause or contribute to muscular sprain, it is known that people who are overweight often are at greater risk for ligamental or muscle sprain than those who are not obese. As your work requires you to sit down a lot its very likely that the pain you are experiencing is because of sprain. However the first symptoms of shingles are unusual skin sensations. This sensation is often referred by patients as pain. This pain is sometimes referred to abdominal area also but its usually Rare.
Hence to diagnose the cause;physical examination should be done by a physician
As right now you are in office the easiest way is to take a tablet of Aceclofenac or Diclofenac(as you are not relieved by ibuprofen) but i would strongly recommend you initially to go for an ultrasound abdomen to rule out abdomen pathology as a cause of pain. If its normal a proper percussion and palpatory examination of abdomen should be done by your primary to rule out the cause.
If every thing turn up normal then ligamental sprain or muscular sprain should be considered and treated by anti inflammatory and fomentation.

Hope i answered your query well.
