Suggest Treatment For Shooting Pain In The Left Foot

default
Posted on Tue, 31 Jan 2017
Question: For the past 12 to 15 months: I have sporadic shooting pain in my left foot. It can happen at anytime: at rest, when sitting, when walking, when exercising, day or night. It occurs in the outer portion of the foot; sometimes the heel; sometimes the last 3 toes; sometimes near the arch. The pain can last from 5 minutes to 45 minutes.
No trauma occurred to the foot; there is NO discoloration; no swelling; the foot is not sensitive to touch. I am NOT diabetic (tested in the last 3 months). I had a history of back pain; but that has not occurred in more than 10 years.

Brief Answer:
Can be due to osteoarthritis or fasciitis.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for posting your query.

The sporadic shooting pain in the foot that you have can be related to osteoarthritis, low levels of calcium or vitamin D3 or due to plantar fasciitis. Although there's no history of trauma as you'v mentioned, an X-ray of the foot and a few blood investigations will help in detecting the exact cause.

Taking proper supplements will help in recovery.
I hope this answers your query.

Having had plantar fasciitis earlier in my life tells me this is not the current condition. X rays taken of my foot showed no abnormalities. What supplements do you advise that I take?

Brief Answer:
Get your blood levels evaluated first.

Detailed Answer:
Hello.
Thanks for writing again.
If plantar fasciitis and injuries are ruled out then you may need calcium and vitamin D3 supplements. It is best to start these supplements after getting your serum levels evaluated.
Hope my answer is helpful.
