Suggest Treatment For Side Effects Caused By Crestor

Question: after visiting a family medicine practitioner on 5 XXXXXXX I have stopped the crestor medicine, since last 17 days. I have also got my lipid profile, hb1ac and lever kidney function tests done, which are near normal limits.

I had taken 10 mg tablet daily for 30 days from 6 May to 5 XXXXXXX But the rotational pain in my different joints is still persisting. How long it will take to get rid of crestor's side effect.

Kindly advise whether I should wait for these pains to go away, or do any other tests? if so, what tests?

Brief Answer:
Wait for the pains to go away. Typically last 4-6weeks!

Detailed Answer:
Hi and thank you so much for this query.

I am so sorry to hear about the Crestor related side effects. This is typical of drugs used in treating high cholesterol. It is good to know the lipids and liver enzymes are near normal. This will regress and even faster than the resolution of the muscle and body pains. It often takes about 4-6weeks to get over all the symptoms. I will encourage you to exercise some patience and will be over. There is no need for further testing or drugs to address. Time is the best response. However, if the pains are too much, you may need a pain drug, gentle massages and moderate levels of physical exercise alongside healthy diet. This will suppress the pain and allow for healing.

I hope this helps. I wish you well. Thanks for using our services and do feel free to ask for more information and clarifications if need be.

Brief Answer:
How much Ibuprofen are you on?

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

Daily Ibuprofen may cause stomach pains. This is closely related to the dose you take daily. Higher doses are more likely to do so. Please, tell me how much you take daily. If the liver enzymes were not increased, Tylenol is always my preferred first line pain medication.

Please, try using the joints as much as possible. If you fail to do so, it will become stiff and rigid and you will not be able to regain full functionality. If you are unable to do this all by yourself, you may need the services of a physiotherapist.

I hope this helps. I wish you well.

Brief Answer:
Continue with the exercises and let pain not cause you to stop!

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

Thanks for the precision.

The dose is low enough and will not cause any major problems. However, always make sure you eat well to protect the stomach. Continue exercising as this is the only way to maintain the mobility of your joints and not let them get stiff.

I wish you well.
