Question : I have a uti and yesterday was prescribed nitrofur mono mcr 100mg -- the dosage was to be take once every 12 hours -- I left and picked my prescription up and for some reason took two to jumpstart me -- I ate something but within an hour was experiencing severe itching on my hands and palms and the back of my head -- starting drinking water and took long hot shower -- later felt aches all over and took a hot bath and finally went to sleep -- my hands are slightly swollen and the back of my head and neck feel huge and like someone has hit me with a baseball bat. Could this have been a reaction to taking two doses at once -- I am 56 yrs old and have no known allergies to any med. Should I take my next dose this morning or this afternoon -- still itching but not as bad

Possible side effect of the medication, Stop it and call your doctor.

Hi Dear ! I Have gone through your question and I understand your concern.

Yes this tells me that you have side effect of the drug. Stop the medication , don't take it anymore to prevent any dangerous side effect .

Call your treating doctor as soon as you can and discuss with him/her about this and to start another drug.

Don't use hot shower , as it sometimes makes the swollen and itching worse . Use cold water instead .

This drug is good to take at the bedtime (afternoon )
