Question : I have been prescribed Pregabalin and Butrans patches for sciatic from the end of the first week I had terrible memory loss, I have now come off both drugs Pregabalin 3 months ago and BuTrans 10 patches yesterday, will my memory come back or have I damaged it permanantly?

Hello,

pregabalin and butrans have a lot of neurological side effects. The effects are supposed to wear off after stopping the treatment. My opinion is that you should visit a neurologist with an interest in dementia and proceed to appropriate testing including functional tests and a brain MRI. The functional tests will document (or not) the cognitive decline and the brain MRI will help to identify potential structural changes that cause such symptoms - they may include pathological conditions like tumors or 'normal' conditions like progressive age-related shrinking of the brain.

Besides the aforementioned investigations, a careful review of any medication (including supplements) you may take can be helpful. Some of them may cause various problems.
