Question : I have a sinus infection and the antibiotic I am on (doxycline) is makng me sick. The only other po antibiotic I can take is Septra but I can't see my np until the 12th and my ent until the 19th. So far I can not find anyone to call this in and my headache is soaring because the infection is packed behind my right sinus and not draining.

Brief Answer:
HCM can not call in medication

Detailed Answer:
Thanks for contacting HCM with your health care concerns.

You are experiencing severe headache from a sinus infection and your current antibiotics doxycycline is causing nausea. Doxycycline causes nausea frequently and limits it use because of the nausea. In my practice I ask patient to take doxycycline with food and may even try taking it with chocolate. These may help reduce the nausea. If you are sill nauseous and need to change the antibiotic then you may need to see a physician at an urgent care center. HCM does not call in prescriptions.

I also recommend using a nasal decongestant to reduce the pressure. I usually will recommend a nasal spray but use it only for 3 days.

I hope I answered your question. Please contact HCM again with your health care concerns and questions.
