Question: MYQUESTION DISAPPEARED. i HAVE HAD PROBLEMS WITH SWOLLEN LEGS SINCE iHAD A SKIN INFECTION 3 OR 4 YR AGO. BY THETIMETHE INFECTION CLEARED, MYDR. DECIDED THAT THEPRESSURE PUMP WASTHEONLY WAY TOGET MY LEGS NORMAL.IT HELPED FOR A WHILE BECAUSE I STOPPED TAKING SULINDAC FOR MY KNEE ARTHRITIS. MY LEGS LOOKED REALLY GOOD FOR A FEW WEEKS BUT IT IS BACK AND I WANT THE SURGERY SOON.

i APOLOGIZE FORTHE POORTYPING-- MY KEYBOARD DOESN'T WORKWELL,IHAVE PARKINSONISM,ANDIHAVE A CAT THAT THINKSSHE OWNSTHECOMPUTER FOR HER 16 YR OLD ACHING BODY.


AT ANY RATE,iREAD SOMETHING ABOUT LIPEDEMA(SP) ANDI wondered ifI migh t have that .I DIDN'T GET TO THE PARTICULARS BEFORE I LOST THE PAPER BUT MY THIGHS ARE HUGE BECAUSETHEPUMP DOESN'T REACH ALL THEWAY UP.

It means accumulation of lymph in the interstitial planes of the legs.

In case if it has not responded to standard pneumatic compression therapy,surgery can be an option.

But high risk surgical consent will be obtained considering your age.

Following surgical procedures can be done in your case.

1.Suction-assisted removal of subcutaneous tissue.
2.Debulking procedures.
3.Staged Excision.

I advise you be consult an expert Cosmetic/Plastic surgeon to discuss with regards to above because every procedure has to be individualized.
