Question : Doc, my lesions on shoulder have come down dramatically, however I see 1 or 2 new lesions on my upper back but they also have started subsiding on there own... am not taking any medicine, pl find attached recent pictures of my shoulder and back for review... you advised me to take minolux 100... 1 tab a day for fortnight, do I still take it or can stay without the same.

My worry still remains if I have an active HSV1 situation, how do I know the same as I don't want to pass on HSV1 to my family... these lesions are they sign of active HSV1...hence I was thinking just to be sure, I will go through the suppressive therapy for HSV1 and that would mean that I will take Herparex 400 or Zovirax 400 tablet twice in a day for 1 week every month... is this what you would advice me.

Also have forgot to mention that have developed some skin tags under my arms and see small ones appearing on my back and on neck...my father had some, I had 2 or 3 three before last year but in last 3-4 months I see growth in some of the earlier tags and new ones appearing, overall I would be having around 8-9 tags on my body... is there a treatment to have these tags removed from my body. Pl refer attached pictures for clarity.

Brief Answer:
Skin tags need to be removed

Detailed Answer:
Hello. Thank you for writing back to us

I have reviewed the Images.
If the bumps are already subsiding then there is no need to take minocycline. You may just use benzoyl peroxide wash, regularly and hopefully they won't be be a problem again.
This is certainly not a manifestation of Hsv 1. Hsv 1 presents differently i.e as fluid filled vesions/ sores, on or around lips i.e face rather than on chest Or back. There is no need for suppressive antiviral therapy in your case, as this is indicated only in those who have frequent recurrences of Hsv 1, as described above.
Skin tags are more common in those who have a family history. Since your father had those, therefore, that is probably the reason you have developed them too. Skin tags need to be removed with an electrocautery Or radiofrequency cautery procedure. There is no cream Or topical medication that would work for skin tags. Electrocautery is a very minor procedure. You may contact a dermatologist in your region for the same.

Thank you doctor, what can I do of my worry that I don't pass Hsv 1 to one of my family members, what precautions I should take.

In fact I never had a breakout of lesions on my mouth or lips as yet... It was only this blood test in last Nov that showed my igg titters for hsv1 high.

Also this recurring and persistent folliculitis, is this symptom of any other major disease or am thinking too far. Also the small red bumps/ lesions that I see on my front portion of neck are increasing by the day. earlier I had one and now I have around 3-4.. they are not pussy but small red colour bumps... any advice for them

I have sent you some of my neck pictures as well yesterday.

Brief Answer:
Do not need to take any strict precautions for herpes

Detailed Answer:
Hi.

Hsv 1, gets transmitted only though direct skin to skin contact e.g Lip to lip Kissing for oro-labial herpes, which is the common presentation of Hsv 1 infection. The risk of transmission is more during an episode of herpes i.e sores on or around the lips. The only preacution that I suggest is to avoid direct contact, if and when you develop active herpes. Nothing else.
Recurring bumps on chest and back is more likely an acneform eruption. This is because this part of body is rich in oil glands which can get infected with bacteria. Using an antibacterial body wash, regularly would keep these eruptions under control. Did you try benzoyl peroxide body wash? I think it should be enough for your skin problem. Benzoyl peroxide is antibacterial as well as also dries up the excess oil, thus likely to benefit the condition.
