Detailed Answer:
Dear XXXXX,
Thanks for using Healthcaremagic.
I read your query and understand your concerns.
From the available description I feel there is probability of excessive stress resulting from change of place as well as study pressure in addition to cultural differences. The sleep disturbance can result from many factors and among them stress tops the priority.
In my view two things are required for this.
First obviously sleep hygiene. Although it is lengthy topic to discuss but I am posting a friendly URL of article authored by me.In essence you will find important Dos and DONTs to do to have proper sleep. Ask your doctor to go through the article and follow the basic principles of sleep hygiene. In most people with simple stress, observation of sleep hygiene principles helps and same can be expected for a young college girl.
The url is as follows

Second thing there is need to manage the stress associated with study and daily life.
In case these two simple things do not help her completely seeking professional help is warranted. Benadryl is good option as it is nonaddictive medication but I think this should be the second line of treatment and not the first line.
I hope this helps you.
If you have any further query, I would be glad to help you.
If not, you may close the discussion and if possible you may rate the answer for my future patients.
