Suggest Treatment For Sleeplessness
I am a homemaker in XXXXXXX area, where I moved around 9 months back.
For last 15 days, I am having issues while getting sleep. I generally go to bed around 11:30 in night, I try to sleep but it take at least 1 hour to fall asleep. That also is not sound sleep, If I getup to pee in the night (generally 3-4 AM), after that I cant sleep again till morning. I just lie there in half sleep stage. I wake up at 6:30AM.
I don't take any nap throughout the day as well. I go for a walk in the morning for 40 minutes and in night after dinner for 20 minutes.
I am also having headache since last 10-15 days, which I feel some 2-3 times a day and last for 30-45 minutes. After that it is normal. I am not sure these are directly related to sleep or not.
Try to improve sleep hygiene.

Hi, thanks for asking from HCM for your health related doubts
I can understand your concern. First of all I'd like to know if there is any significant stress in your social, personal life that appeared recently? If anything that is bothering you since last few days?
How was your mood prior to appearance of problem of poor sleep?
Is there any history of low mood, lack of interest in day to day activity, decreased energy, chronic fatigue, bad thoughts, poor motivation etc symptoms since past few weeks?
If there is no such history of symptoms then most likely the reason for your poor sleep is primary insomnia. In primary insomnia sleep disturbances occur without any specific reason.
You have problems in falling asleep as well as in maintaining good sleep. The sleep in non refreshing and is resulting in headache also. The reason of headache is most probably poor improper sleep. If problem persist then I'd advise you to improve sleep hygiene.
You are already going to bed on time but if you fails to sleep with in 15 minutes of going to bed then get up and try to distract your mind from sleep. This will help in early onset with time.
Don't try to sleep on bed. Repetitive tries result in worries about getting asleep which further worsens the problem.
Avoid tea, coffee, any carbonated drink in evening.
Warm water bath in evening help in good sleep. Walking in evening is good but avoid excessing hard in evening.
Avoid reading or watching TV from bed. Use your bed for sleep only.
Sleep in dark, cool and calm room. Some times light or noise result in poor sleep.
Try to improve these points and your sleep should improve. If problem persist then visit a psychiatrist for help.
For primary insomnia benzodiazepine or Z-drugs can be used. These drugs can be used for short term for poor sleep. Once sleep becomes better the you can discontinue these drugs.
Thanks, Hope this helps you. Please don't hesitate to ask again for more doubts.
Take care
Yes I missed that, recently I am having mood swings as well, sometimes for 3-4 days, I will feel very gloomy, will be very angry on small things, will be thinking too much, finding wrong in every thing, not at all looking forward to day. But after that I will be okay afterwards.
I don’t see any co-relations of these with monthly cycle,
I don’t have any stress as such, but I got recently married(9 months back), so I keep thinking how to best fit in new environment, also I started further studies, for which I don’t get much time, so that one thread also keep going in the brain.
Most likely reason is primary insomnia
Detailed Answer:
Hello again
The problem has started few days back only and in my opinion there is no relation between the marriage or insomnia. As there is no other visible cause so most likely the reason for your poor sleep is primary insomnia.
Try not to get overthink or never over analyse your behaviour. Try to remain calm and don't try hard to fit in anything. This will increase stress only.
For poor sleep you can use the drugs which I have mentioned for short term. This will improve the problem and you will feel better.
Thanks, Hope this helps you, if you have more doubts you can ask again
Yes insomnia is one of important reason for chronic headache.

Hello again and thanks for asking a follow up
Yes the headache is related to insomnia most probably in your case. Chronic insomnia results in poor functioning and thus increase the risk of headache, fatigue, body pains, tiredness etc symptoms. With proper treatment of insomnia these symptoms will reduce and headache will decrease.
